Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah
President of the Republic of Namibia
State House, Windhoek, Namibia
Subject: Congratulations on Your Historic Inauguration as Namibia’s First Female President
Your Excellency,
On behalf of Leading Women of Africa (LWA) and our network of women leaders and entrepreneurs across Africa and the Diaspora, we extend our heartfelt congratulations on your historic inauguration as the first female President of the Republic of Namibia. This momentous occasion is a victory for women’s leadership and a milestone in Africa’s progress toward gender-inclusive governance.
Your ascension to the highest office is not only a personal triumph but also an inspiration for millions of women and girls across the continent. It sends a strong message that women’s leadership is essential in shaping the future of Africa, and it further affirms that the electorate, both men and women, recognize and trust the capabilities of women in steering nations towards prosperity and development.
Namibia now joins the distinguished list of African countries that have witnessed women rising to the highest leadership positions, including Liberia, Malawi, Central African Republic, Tanzania, Mauritius, Ethiopia, Gabon, Angola, Ghana, Zambia, Burundi, and South Africa. Each of these milestones contributes to fast-tracking the increased participation of women in key decision-making positions, not only in governance but also across the corporate and public sectors.
At Leading Women of Africa, we firmly believe that empowering women leaders is a catalyst for Africa’s socio-economic transformation. Women’s leadership strengthens democracy, drives inclusive policies, and accelerates the achievement of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which envisions a prosperous and globally competitive Africa by the year 2063.
As we celebrate this achievement, we are reminded of the powerful words of the late Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, First President of Zambia and Patron of Leading Women of Africa:
“This is an approach that will bring about the need to recognize that women play a very important role in all areas of human endeavors. The 21st century is the time for men to look at women as equal partners in political, social, and economic development.”
Your Excellency, your leadership stands as a beacon of hope and an encouragement for more women to aspire to and take up influential roles in politics, business, and society at large. We look forward to witnessing your vision and leadership drive Namibia and Africa toward a more equitable, progressive, and prosperous future.
Once again, congratulations on this historic milestone. May your tenure be marked with success, unity, and transformation for the people of Namibia and the African continent at large.
With our highest esteem and best wishes,
Mrs Madelein Mkunu
President
